Much of my experience in photo and video has been of a freelance nature. I've hosted multiple shoots, both personal and professional, and always aim to create a people-first narrative in all my work. The majority of my expertise in this line of work lies in post-production. My knowledge of color grading, retouching, audio mixing, and more aid my desire to produce clean, meaningful images for anyone I have the pleasure of working with.
This is a collage featuring a portion of the portraits I shot for a project known as "Shaping the Self with Portraits and Strokes". The collection was meant to highlight and beautify the experience of being mixed race and finding identity through two halves.
Many of my freelance jobs have been shooting and editing collections of graduation photos for local students. Portraits are one of my favorite genres because I love working closely with people and bringing out their natural radiance through simple, yet effective edits -- everything from basic color correction to hiding an unsightly pipe in the background.
I have also served as an editor for multiple photoshoots by other photographers. This photo here was shot by Jonathan Kishi and sent over to me for touch-ups. Not only does the second photo look more lively and vivid, but all unsightly obstructions from the environment have also been quietly removed.
The film aspect of my coursework in college brought me the most out of my comfort zone. However, I couldn't be more grateful for the exposure to such a captivating medium. With strong competency in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and even a little dabbling in Cinema 4D, I aim to turn every second of raw footage I am given into compelling visual narratives. Below are some samples of project highlights of my work in video.
The Turin 1911 Project was a compilation of many efforts across the UCSD Humanities Department to bring the World Fair of Turin 1911 to life. My role worked closely with Dean of Humanities Christina Della Coletta to compile historical footage, map scans, and 3D renderings of the World Fair into an introductory video for the project's website. This video scroll also served as the backdrop for the live event showcase on UCSD's campus in October of 2023.
This was an experiment for a class project involving real-time lighting effects and digital overlays with live film. It combined my experience in PNG graphics with my video editing skills to serve as a way to dip my toe into the world of VFX.
